Kidnapping expatriates in Kaliganj, recovery of goods with victims: Arrest-3

Gazipur Correspondent: After abducting an Iraqi expatriate named Labu Mia (35) from Kaliganj in Gazipur, the kidnapping gang demanded a ransom of Tk 10 lakh. At this time, the gang also looted some goods from the expatriates. Later in this incident, due to the complaint of the expatriate's younger brother Mamun Mia, the victim was rescued from Hamurdia village of Shibpur Upazila of Narsingdi in a chained condition and some parts of the looted goods were recovered and involved in the kidnapping. Kaliganj Thana police have arrested three members of the gang named Dulal Mia (30), Nasir Uddin (27) and Rabeya (21).

After filing a kidnapping case (No. 20) on Wednesday (March 20) morning in this incident, the arrested persons have been sent to jail through the Gazipur court. Mahatab Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station, confirmed this information in a press conference at Kaliganj police station this afternoon. Also present at this time were Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kaliganj Police Station Mashiur Rahman Khan, Saiful Islam and Fazlur Rahman. The rescued victim, Labu, is from Guhuli village of Mokna area of ​​Nagerpur police station in Tangail. Son of Aminur Rahman. He lived in Iraq for a long time.

On the other hand, the arrested Dulal, Nasir and Rabeya are children of Tofazzal Hossain of Hamurdia village of Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi. The three of them are brothers and sisters. The OC told the mediapersons present that on March 17, when he came home from Iraq on leave, his colleague Hasan Mia sent some gift items from there to Kaliganj market to Rabeya. The victim came out of the Labu Miah Airport directly at around 12:30 noon on that day and came near Rabeya at Kaliganj RRN Pilot School ground and waited there.

After some time, Rabeya appeared there with 7/8 unknown people in a black Hiace car. Later, at some point, they forced the victim into the car. At that time, the victim was abducted along with the expatriate's belongings. The OC also said that after abducting the victim Labu Mia, the abductors demanded a ransom of Tk 10 lakh from her father's mobile phone.

If the demanded money is not paid, the victim is also threatened to be killed on the mobile phone. OC Mahatab Uddin said that the younger brother of the victim filed a complaint at the Kaliganj police station. Police Inspector (Operation) in that case. Nasir and Rabeya were arrested from Shivpur in Narsingdi. Apart from this, some parts of the looted goods were recovered from the accused.
