Jamalpur Correspondent: Jamalpur's Islampur police station arrested five accused who were sentenced on the same day.
On Sunday (March 24) afternoon, the arrested accused were handed over to the Jamalpur District Judge and Sessions Court by the police. They were arrested in special raids in different parts of the upazila on the previous day on Saturday night.
The arrested accused are Zakaria (25) son of Mosharof Hossain of Malmara village of Gwalerchar union of the upazila, Habibur Rahman (35) son of deceased Nenna Pramanik of Khadiarchar Uttarpara village, Sri Bisunath Rabidas (40) son of deceased Janik Rabidas of Kumirdah village, Paschim Shankarpur village of Islampur Sadar union. Shri Ranjit Babu (25), son of resident and village police Shiblal Ravidas, Shri Santosh Rishi (28), son of deceased Karda Rishi of Gaukura Rishipara village.
According to sources from Islampur police station, among those arrested, Zakaria was sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment in the case of dowry law. Besides, Mr. Bisunath Ravidas, Mr. Ranjit Babu, Mr. Santosh Rishi and Habibur Rahman have been sentenced to 6 months rigorous imprisonment in the Narcotics Control Act case.
Islampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Suman Talukder said, "Jamalpur District Judge and the concerned judge of Dazra Court announced the sentence against the recently arrested accused. We arrested them on warrant. The arrested accused have been handed over to the court.
