One gets life in Narail drug case

Narail representative:  The court sentenced one person to life imprisonment and fined Tk 10,000 in a drug case in Narail. Additional District and Sessions Judge (2nd Court) Judge Muhammad Saiful Alam passed the sentence on Tuesday (April 30) afternoon. The convict is Khandaker Inamul Islam Choton (40), son of Khandaker Munsur Sheikh of Moralikati village of Kalaroa upazila of Satkhira district. The defendant was not present at the time of the verdict. The court acquitted the other accused in the case, Zakaria Bulu of Jhikra village of the same upazila. 

Narail Additional District and Sessions Judge Court Public Prosecutor (APP) Advocate Mohammad Alamgir Siddiqui confirmed the matter. 

According to the details of the case, on August 21, 2009, 9 kg of Phencidil was recovered by searching the suspected motorcycle on the west side of Sitarampur Bridge of Sadar Upazila on Narail-Jesore road. In this incident, the police filed a case under the Narcotics Act at the Sadar police station, accusing two people named Inamul Islam Choton and Zakaria Bulu.

Later, the police filed a charge sheet in the court accusing Inamul Islam Choton. After the testimony of 8 people in the case, the charges brought against the accused were proven beyond doubt, and the judge gave the sentence.
