Blackmail by editing the pictures of girls, arrested 4

Pabna representative: All are 17 to 22 years old. They first used to collect photos from IDs of school-college girls. Then those girls were threatened to edit them obscenely and spread them on Facebook pages and groups. They used to do blackmailing not only by threatening but demanding huge amount of money.

Pabna District Detective Police arrested 4 members of such a gang. At this time, computers used in this work and several mobile sets were recovered from their work.

Pabna Police Superintendent Akbar Ali Munsi gave this information in a press conference at Pabna Police Superintendent office auditorium on Sunday (April 28).

The arrested are Istiaq Ahmed Rangan (18) son of Mohiul Islam of Nazirpur village of Pabna Sadar upazila, Shahriar Kabir Akash (17) son of Yakub Ali of Bil Bhaduria village, Imon Ahmed (20) son of Shahin Mandal of Radhanagar Mohalla of Pabna Municipal area and Bakul Hossain of Shalgaria Mohalla. Hasibul Hasan Tanmoy (22).

The Superintendent of Police said that the families of several school-college students who were harassed on Facebook complained to the Pabna Superintendent of Police that their daughters' photos were collected from their Facebook IDs by 'Exposure & Confession Center Pabna-ECCP', 'The Boss', 'The Roast'. House', 'Satya Kathan O Islam', 'Unknown Information of Pabna' and other Facebook pages were editing the pictures and posting various offensive pictures.

Later, the page admins were demanding money from the victim to delete the said pictures from the Facebook page. They threatened to post more offensive pictures if they did not pay the money as demanded. After such complaints, the police launched an operation.

At one stage of the operation, the administrators of 'Exposure & Confession Center Pabna-ECCP' Istiaq Ahmed Rangan, Eamon Ahmed and Shahriar Kabir Akash and Satya Kathan and Islam and the administrator of 'The Boss' page Hasibul Hasan Tanmoy were arrested on Saturday night with the help of information technology.

The Superintendent of Police also said that many victims of cyberbullying by these cybercriminals in Pabna district are socially degraded and are choosing to commit suicide, many of their families are breaking up. Realizing the importance of the matter, the Pabna DB Police was working for quite some time.

These criminals are highly skilled in mass technology and are used to using advanced technology. Apart from the accused, there are several other group admins who are constantly doing cyber bullying. They are all under our care. Strict legal action will be taken against anyone involved in cybercrime or cyberbullying.
