Police have arrested 1 person in connection with the gang rape of a girl in Faridpur

Faridpur Correspondent : Police have arrested one person in connection with the gang rape of a girl in Faridpur's Boalmari. The police arrested one of the four accused in the case of rape on Monday (May 6) night. Meanwhile, the victim has been admitted to Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical College Hospital for health examination. According to the police station and the locals, a love relationship developed with the victim's neighbor Junayet Sheikh. 

At one stage of the relationship, Junayet Sheikh developed physical relations with the girl under the temptation of marriage. On November 20 last year, as the girl's parents were not at home, her boyfriend Junayet Sheikh (16), her friends Zubair Fakir (15) and Tariqul Fakir (16) called the girl that night and raped her in the mahogany garden of Manmat Mandal of Parameshwardi village. 

But for some days, the girl's body changes. Later on April 29, the girl told her mother about the rape. Then the girl's father sought justice from the Matubbar Harun Sheikh of the village. Haroon Sheikh instead beat up the victim's family and left the village without arranging justice. 

After learning about the incident through various media, OC Shahidul Islam of Boalmari Police Station conducted a raid last Sunday (5th May) night and arrested three people from that village. Later on Monday (May 6) night, the teenager's father filed a case under the Prevention of Women and Child Abuse Act against Junayet Sheikh of Parameshwardi village, Zubair Fakir, Tariqul Fakir, son of Taiyeb of Vennatala village of Alfadanga upazila, and Harun Sheikh, son of Seken Sheikh of Parmeshwardi village.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Faridpur's Boalmari Police Station, Md. Shahidul Islam said, 'After the gang rape, the victim's family was expelled from the village. Later, knowing through various channels, three people from that area were brought to the police station for questioning. Harun Sheikh's involvement in the incident was found and according to his information, the victim and her mother were rescued from nearby Alfadanga police station Tita and her father from Faridpur Sadar.

On Tuesday, the victim was sent to Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital for medical examination. He also said that Haroon Sheikh was arrested and sent to the court on Tuesday afternoon. Efforts are on to arrest the rest of the accused.
