Former Cantonment Police Station OC Rakibul Arrested, Being Taken to Court

Former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhaka Cantonment Police Station Md. Rakibul Hasan has been arrested in a sedition case. He is being taken to court after being formally shown arrested in the case, according to reports.

Court sources confirmed the information on Thursday (September 24) evening.

Earlier, Rakibul was taken into Detective Branch (DB) custody over an audio recording that had circulated on social media. The audio reportedly contained remarks concerning the government, police and various other forces.

Rakibul had claimed that the audio was not his and that it had been created using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

As of the time of reporting, it was not clear whether police would seek his remand after producing him before the court.
