News Desk: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said, "There is no alternative to the safe and dignified repatriation of the forcibly displaced Rohingyas from Myanmar to their homeland."

He stated, "On humanitarian grounds, Bangladesh has been providing shelter to a large number of Rohingyas for a long time. There is no alternative to the safe and dignified repatriation of the Rohingyas to their homeland for a permanent solution to the crisis, and more effective and coordinated initiatives from the international community are required for this purpose."

Tarique Rahman made these remarks during a courtesy call and important meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Barham Salih.

It is reported that the meeting took place on Tuesday afternoon local time at the Prime Minister's residence, the Grand Hyatt New York.

The Prime Minister's Official Press Secretary, AKM Nazmul Huq, informed BSS of this development.

The Assistant Press Secretary said that the meeting focused significantly on a sustainable solution to the long-standing Rohingya crisis, creating a favorable environment in Myanmar for the safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation of the Rohingyas, and the effective, coordinated role of the international community to achieve this end.

During the bilateral meeting, emphasis was laid on strengthening international cooperation to accelerate the repatriation process, alongside continuing humanitarian assistance for the Rohingyas.

At that time, Barham Salih commended Bangladesh's humanitarian role in providing shelter to the Rohingyas. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman highlighted the importance of continued international cooperation for a sustainable solution to the crisis.
