News Desk: On the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly session, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh and President of the General Assembly, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, exchanged greetings and views with US President Donald Trump.

It is learned that the meeting took place on Tuesday (22 September) local time in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session. However, further details regarding the meeting were not disclosed.

Sharing a photograph of the meeting on his verified Facebook account, Dr. Khalilur Rahman wrote, "Personal exchange of views with the President of the United States, Donald Trump."

As President of the 81st UN General Assembly, Khalilur Rahman highlighted the need for UN reform and advocated for permanent African representation on the Security Council. He emphasized the importance of incorporating Africa into global decision-making processes. According to UN information, Khalilur Rahman was elected President of the 81st General Assembly on 2 June 2026, and his one-year term began on 8 September.

Meanwhile, the main general debate of the 81st UN General Assembly session commenced on Tuesday (22 September). Heads of state and government, as well as world leaders from various countries, delivered addresses. On the same day, US President Donald Trump also addressed the General Assembly. Prime Minister of Bangladesh Tarique Rahman attended the session.
