JBCCI Elects New Board for 2026–2028, Kazuiki Kataoka Named President

Staff Correspondent: The Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) has elected a 16-member Board of Directors for the 2026–2028 term, with Mr. Kazuiki Kataoka elected as President.

‎The election was held on September 13 and September 23, 2026, under the supervision of the Election Board headed by Mr. AKM Kamrul Islam FCA, First Banking Ombudsman of Bangladesh, with Mr. A.Z.M. Azizur Rahman, former member of BEPZA, serving as a member of the Election Board.

‎Mr. Kazuiki Kataoka, Country Representative of the JETRO Dhaka Office, has been elected President of JBCCI. He previously served as Joint Secretary-General of the Chamber during the 2024–2026 term.

‎Mr. Rabiul Alam, Managing Director of MKK Logistics and a former Director of the JBCCI Board, has been elected Secretary General. He has also served as Secretary General of the Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

‎Mr. Kenji Kimura, Chief Representative of MUFG Bank’s Dhaka Office, has been elected Treasurer. He previously served as a Director of JBCCI during the 2024–2026 term.

‎The newly constituted Board brings together prominent business leaders from both the Japanese and Bangladeshi business communities. Mr. Abu Zaman Md. Tariqul Islam, Managing Director of Yusen Logistics (Bangladesh) Ltd., has been elected Vice President 1, while Mr. Syed Samiul Huq, Director of Japan Solartech Bangladesh Ltd., has been elected Vice President 2.
‎Mr. Oliver Kutz, Managing Director of JT International Bangladesh Ltd., has been elected Joint Secretary General, while Mr. Saumitra Kumar Mutsuddi, Head of Corporate Affairs at BSRM Ltd. and an Executive Committee Member of BAAS, has been elected Joint Treasurer.

‎The nine other Directors of the newly elected Board are Mr. Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun), Managing Director of NewVision Solutions Ltd.; Mr. Hiroaki Oura, General Manager of ITOCHU Corporation, Dhaka Liaison Office; Mr. Kabir Ahmed, Managing Director of Conveyor Logistics Ltd.; Mr. Atsushi Hirakuri, General Manager of Sojitz Asia Pte. Ltd.; Mr. AKM Ahmedul Islam BABU, Managing Director & CEO of TechKnowGram Ltd.; Mr. Kenichiro Kawamoto, General Manager and Country Chairperson of Mitsui & Co. (Asia Pacific) Pte. Ltd., Dhaka Branch; Ms. Farzanah Chowdhury, Managing Director & CEO of Green Delta Insurance PLC; Mr. Hironori Yamanaka, Country General Manager of Sumitomo Corporation Asia & Oceania Pte. Ltd.; and Mr. Mudassir Murtaza Moin, Managing Director of Rahimafrooz Distribution Ltd.

‎Founded in 2004, JBCCI is a business organization dedicated to strengthening economic cooperation and mutual growth between Japan and Bangladesh. The Chamber works to promote bilateral trade, investment and cultural exchange, while supporting increased Japanese investment in Bangladesh and the growth of Bangladeshi exports to Japan.
