Dengue Claims Three Lives, 372 Hospitalized

Three people died from dengue across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, while another 372 patients were admitted to hospitals during the same period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The information was disclosed in the DGHS's daily dengue update issued on Monday (July 20).

According to the statement, between 8:00 a.m. on Sunday and 8:00 a.m. on Monday, the highest number of new hospitalizations was recorded outside the city corporation areas of Dhaka Division, with 103 cases. Barishal Division reported 67 new patients, Chattogram Division 54, Dhaka North City Corporation 22, Dhaka South City Corporation 52, Khulna Division 43, Mymensingh Division 21, Rajshahi Division four, and Rangpur Division six.

The DGHS said that a total of 10,857 people have been infected with dengue so far this year. Of them, 4,753 cases have been recorded in July alone.

The health authority also reported that the nationwide dengue death toll has risen to 37 this year. Among the fatalities, 19 occurred in July, while two deaths were recorded in January, two in February, one in May, and 13 in June.
