News Desk: Five more children died from measles and related complications across the country in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 696 additional children developed symptoms consistent with measles.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services' (DGHS) regular measles situation report released on Sunday (12 July), four of the deaths recorded in the last 24 hours were among children with measles-related symptoms, while one child died after being confirmed to have measles. Since 15 March, the nationwide death toll from measles and related complications has risen to 758.
The report also stated that 90 new measles cases were confirmed across the country over the past 24 hours. In addition, 879 more people developed symptoms associated with the disease. Since 15 March, a total of 111,480 people have reported measles-related symptoms, while 13,500 cases have been laboratory-confirmed.
According to the DGHS report, a total of 94,340 people have been hospitalized with measles or related complications since 15 March. Of them, 90,605 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
