Eight More Children Die with Measles Symptoms

Eight children died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 798 children were affected by measles or developed measles-related symptoms.

The information was disclosed in the latest measles situation report issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday (August 15).

According to the report, eight more children died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours. However, no child died from confirmed measles during this period.

Since March 15, a total of 803 children have died with measles symptoms across the country. Another 99 children have died after being confirmed to have measles. This brings the total number of deaths associated with measles and measles symptoms to 902 during the period.

In addition, 70 children were newly diagnosed with measles in the past 24 hours, while 728 developed measles-related symptoms. During the same period, 700 children were newly admitted to hospitals and 549 were discharged after treatment.

According to DGHS data, a total of 141,776 suspected measles cases have been reported nationwide since March 15, while 17,800 cases have been confirmed.

Of the total suspected and confirmed cases, 123,494 patients have been admitted to hospitals, while 119,089 have already been discharged and returned home.
