8 More Die of Dengue Fever

Eight more people have died from dengue across the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,782 patients have been admitted to hospitals. This brings the total number of hospitalised dengue patients so far this year to 69,149.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported the figures on Thursday (September 24).

Of the patients admitted in the past 24 hours, 1,068 were men and 714 were women. The largest number of admissions was among people aged 21–25, with 262 patients. This was followed by 253 patients aged 26–30 and 238 patients aged 16–20.

Of the eight people who died, two were men and six were women. The largest number of deaths—two—was recorded among people aged 46–50.

In addition, one person died in each of the following age groups: 11–15, 31–35, 36–40, 41–45, 61–65, and above 80 years.

In the past 24 hours, 1,757 dengue patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals. With this, the total number of patients discharged after recovery this year has reached 63,874.
