750 Children Dead from Measles and Complications in 117 Days

Three more children have died with measles-related symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of child deaths linked to measles and its associated symptoms to 750 over the 117-day period since 15 March.

The information was released on Friday (10 July) in the Directorate General of Health Services' (DGHS) regular measles situation report.

According to the report, the three deaths recorded in the past 24 hours were among children showing symptoms consistent with measles. However, no laboratory-confirmed measles deaths were reported during the same period.

The report also said that 128 new confirmed measles cases and 901 new suspected cases presenting measles-like symptoms were identified over the past 24 hours.

Since 15 March, the total number of people who have developed measles-like symptoms has reached 109,899, according to the DGHS.
