One More Dies of Dengue, 163 Hospitalized Across Bangladesh

News Desk: One more person has died from dengue, the mosquito-borne disease transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll this year to 19. In the same period, 163 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.

The information was released in the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS)'s regular dengue situation report on Wednesday (July 1).

Earlier, on Monday (June 29), five people died from dengue in a single day. According to the DGHS, the latest fatality was reported in the Mymensingh Division.

During the past 24 hours, the highest number of new dengue patients was recorded in the Barishal Division, where 46 people were hospitalized.

In addition, 27 patients were admitted in the Chattogram Division, 24 in the Khulna Division, 23 in the Dhaka Division, 17 in the Dhaka South City Corporation, 14 in the Mymensingh Division, 8 in the Dhaka North City Corporation, and 4 in the Rajshahi Division.

According to the DGHS report, from January 1 through Wednesday, a total of 19 people have died from dengue this year. The Mymensingh Division has recorded the highest number of deaths, with five fatalities. During the same period, four people died in the Dhaka South City Corporation, three each in the Dhaka North City Corporation and the Chattogram Division (a total of six), and one person each died in the Barishal, Khulna, Dhaka, and Rajshahi divisions.
