Continued consumer rights drive at food hotels in Faridpur: Fines and closures announced

Ehsan Rana, Faridpur: A drive to protect consumer rights was conducted in food hotels in Faridpur. On Tuesday afternoon, various restaurants and coffee houses in Jhiltuli were raided under the leadership of District Administration and District Sanitary Inspector, Safe Food Inspector Md. Bajlur Rashid Khan. Palki restaurant and coffeehouse were fined Tk 20,000 and ordered to be temporarily closed for 2 months for illegally producing and processing food products in an environment that is harmful to human health. As the owner of the establishment did not appear, a notice was issued to appear in the office within the next 7 days to give a written reply. Apart from this, Janata Bank has been fined Tk 10,000 along with temporary closure of the Mohammadia Hotel and Restaurant factory. Civil Surgeon Office and 1 team of District Police and leaders of Restaurant Owners Association were present at this time. Sanitary Inspector, Safe Food Inspector Md. Bajlur Rashid Khan said that their ongoing operation will continue in public interest.
