International Desk: US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is visiting China. On his second visit to China in a year, Blinken will try to improve relations between the two countries. Blinken arrived in Shanghai on Wednesday. There he will meet with industrialists and businessmen.

Blinken is the highest-ranking US diplomat to visit China in five years. Then there was a meeting between the presidents of the two countries in November. As a result of the meeting between Biden and Xi, the tension between the two countries decreased somewhat. Although relations between Washington and Beijing are no longer bad, several problems remain.
There is tension between the two countries over Taiwan. The US is angry at the way China is supporting Russia in the Ukraine war. Not much progress has been made in reducing the amount of chemicals needed to make fentanyl from China.
Blinken said in his social media post that he would talk to the Chinese leadership about reducing the flow of drugs like fentanyl and synthetic opiates from China. He said, 'Diplomacy through face-to-face discussions has a different importance. Misconceptions and wrong messages should be avoided. It is also important to protect the interests of the people of the United States.
Blinken will push for Chinese companies not to help Russia's defense industry. In February 2022, Moscow invaded Ukraine. A few days before that, Beijing announced its unrestricted relations with Russia.
China, however, has not supplied arms to Russia. But the US charges that Chinese companies are supplying Russia with technology that could be used on the battlefield. Blinken will also address business and human rights issues during his visit. He can mention the treatment of Muslims in western Xinhua in particular.
