International desk: Lebanon's powerful armed group Hezbollah has attacked a military base in Israel. The group also claimed that the attack was carried out by firing rockets at the Israeli military intelligence base in Tel Aviv. Anadolu news agency reported this information in a report on Saturday night (November 2). According to the report, the Lebanese group Hezbollah claimed to launch a rocket attack on the Israeli military intelligence base in Tel Aviv on Saturday.
In a statement, Hezbollah said its fighters fired a number of rockets at the Gillot military base on the outskirts of Tel Aviv. Anadolu says the Gillot military base is one of Israel's main intelligence infrastructures and is home to the Israeli army's Unit 8200. This unit is responsible for intelligence gathering within the Army Intelligence Division.
The base also houses a military intelligence school and the headquarters of Israel's spy agency Mossad. Basically since last September 23, Israel has been carrying out extensive airstrikes in the capital Beirut as well as throughout Lebanon. The Israeli military claims that the strikes are targeting operatives, infrastructure and arsenals of the armed group Hezbollah.
Hezbollah is also striking back. The powerful armed group claimed the killing of 70 Israeli soldiers who were operating in Lebanon last week. According to Lebanese health authorities, almost 2,900 people have been killed and more than 13,000 wounded in Israeli attacks since October last year.
