International Desk: The funeral of Ismail Haniyah, the political head of the Palestinian independence organization Hamas, has been held. Iran's supreme religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei led a funeral prayer at Tehran University on Thursday (August 1).

According to Aljazeera's report, Iran's supreme leader Khamenei is leading the funeral prayers of Haniyeh. It was he who decided the place of funeral at the University of Tehran. Later a mourning procession was taken out. It moves towards Azadi Chatwar. At this time, thousands of people touched his coffin and burst into tears.

Many chanted slogans of revenge. According to Iranian state sources, Haniyeh's body will be taken to Doha, Qatar after the mourning ceremony in Tehran. There he will be laid to rest.  Haniyeh was killed in his Tehran residence on Wednesday. Hamas blamed Israel for this.  A statement from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Haniyeh had been in Tehran since Tuesday (July 30) to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian.

The bodies of Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were recovered early Wednesday (July 31) from the building where Hamas leaders were staying. Investigation is going on in this regard.  Meanwhile, three officials of the country, who did not wish to be named, told The New York Times that Iran's supreme religious leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, ordered the direct attack on Israel. Already secretly he has issued an attack order. The media reported on Wednesday (July 31) that the informants were important Iranian officials.

Two of them are members of the Revolutionary Guard. But the source has been kept secret as they are not allowed to provide information publicly. According to the source, Khamenei decided to counterattack in response to the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, the political head of the Palestinian independence organization Hamas, in Tehran. The aim of the attack is to avenge the disruption of Iran's internal security and to show its strength in the ongoing tension.
