International Desk: Fighters of Lebanon-based armed Islamic political group Hezbollah have attacked the Gillot base of Israeli forces. The base houses the headquarters of the Israel Defense Forces' 8,200 unit known as the Intelligence Division. In a statement from Hezbollah, the group's fighters fired Muhurmuhu rockets from late Tuesday night to early Wednesday morning targeting the Gillot base, located near Tel Aviv, Israel's commercial capital.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) did not disclose the extent of casualties in the attack. However, Israel's Defense Forces managed to destroy only two long-range rockets before they hit the target, according to the country's media outlet Yenet News. In addition, Yenet also reported that the central city of Herzliya was damaged by the rocket. Incidentally, Israel and Lebanon are neighboring countries. On the other side of Israel's northern border is southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah's main bases and military installations are also located in villages in southern Lebanon bordering Israel. Directly supported and backed by Iran, Hezbollah is currently the world's largest armed Islamist political group in terms of military installations, number of fighters and stockpiled weapons. Founded in 1985, the group has been committed to the destruction of Israel since its inception. Hezbollah has no direct ties to the Lebanese government or armed forces, but the group controls the country's power from behind.

Hezbollah has carried out stealth attacks targeting northern Israel at various times since its founding, but the group has greatly increased the scale of those attacks since the 2023 war between Hamas and Israeli forces in Gaza.
