International Desk: At least 16 people were killed in a terrible fire in a shopping mall in China. Many others were injured. These people died in a fire in a high-rise building in the country's southwestern Sichuan province on Wednesday evening. Reuters reports that 16 people were killed in a fire at a department store in Sichuan province.

Xinhua News Agency reported that 16 people died after a fire broke out in a 14-story building in the high-tech zone of Jigong city. After the fire, black smoke covered the surrounding area. China's state broadcaster CCTV said the rescue operation was completed early Thursday local time.
