Madrasa student in Bogra accused of attempted murder after rape, arrest 1

Bogra Correspondent : The police have arrested a young man named Saiful Islam (28) in connection with the attempted murder of a madrasah girl (18) after raping her in Shibganj, Bogra. He was sent to court on Saturday morning. Before this, the incident took place in Nandura village of Atmul union of the upazila on Friday afternoon. Saiful Islam is the son of Saidur Rahman of Nandura Akail Para village of Atmul Union.

According to the victim's family, the girl's parents visited a relative's house on Friday. On this occasion, Saiful Islam raped the victim girl. At one stage the student lost consciousness. Later, Saiful wrapped the clothes and set fire to the victim's body and escaped. When the girl regained consciousness, she ran.

Later, with the help of locals, he was admitted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. From there, the doctors advised to take him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital today. Abdur Rauf, officer-in-charge of Shibganj police station, said that a case was registered in this incident at night. Saiful Islam, accused in the case, has been arrested. Efforts are on to arrest others.
