Consumer Directorate's campaign to control the price of eggs in Tangail

Tangail Correspondent: The price of eggs increased from Tk 11-12 each to Tk 15 in various markets of Tangail city, there has been adverse reaction from the public. The National Directorate of Consumer Rights has fined Tk 9,000 in the administrative system by raiding two markets of the city for selling eggs at a sudden increase in price. 

On Sunday (August 13), Assistant Director of District Consumer Directorate Shikdar Shahinur Alam conducted the operation in Park Bazar and Battala Bazar of the city. Shikdar Shahinur Alam, assistant director of the Tangail district office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, said that a supervisory operation was conducted in Park Bazaar of Tangail city. Amjat's egg house was fined 2000 taka, Abdul Chhobhan's egg store 2000 taka and Bismillah fruit store of Battala Bazar was fined 5000 taka in the administrative system for not being able to show the receipt of the sale of eggs. Members of the District Police assisted in the operation.

He said, in the campaign, everyone is requested to refrain from anti-consumer rights acts as per Consumer Rights Protection Act-2009. Market traders are requested to preserve receipts of bikinis, display price list.
