International Desk: Voting for the election in the upper house of Japan's parliament began on Sunday. The election comes just two days after the assassination of Shinzo Abe, the country's former prime minister and leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). This is the first time in almost 90 years that a leader has been assassinated in the country. So the Japanese may need some more time to overcome this grief. Although the ruling party has said Aber's death will not derail Japan's democratic process. In a speech on the eve of the election, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida expressed outrage at the killing of Aber and said that violence would not be tolerated to suppress freedom of speech. Voting begins at 8 a.m. local time on Sunday. Japan's longest-serving Prime Minister Abe was shot dead by assassins during an election campaign on Friday. His death is expected to boost the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) majority in this election.
