Deadly Israeli airstrike on Rafah refugee camp, 21 dead

International Desk: Israel has again launched airstrikes on the refugee camp of Rafah, a city in the southern part of the besieged Gaza. At least 21 people have been killed. According to a report by Qatar-based media Al-Jazeera, since the start of the Israeli campaign in Rafah, Israeli tanks and machine gun-equipped vehicles have been stationed in the heart of Rafah city on Tuesday (May 28). This place is about 500 meters from the border with Egypt.

Gaza's Ministry of Health said that 21 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a Palestinian refugee tent camp west of Rafah. Gaza's emergency services department said Israeli tank shells hit several tent camps in the coastal area of ​​al-Mawasi. Occupying Israel has been conducting operations in Rafah for more than two weeks.

The Israeli attack on the Rafah Tal al-Sultan refugee camp on Sunday night, which killed 45 people, has sparked global condemnation. Meanwhile, Spain, Ireland and Norway recognized Palestine as an independent state on Tuesday amid Israeli brutality in Gaza.

According to a report in the Times of Israel, Ireland was the last country on the list to recognize Palestine as an independent state on Tuesday. Earlier, Spain and Norway recognized Palestine as a state on the same day. Last week, a joint announcement by the prime ministers of Spain, Ireland and Norway revealed their plan to recognize Palestine as a state.

It should be noted that so far 147 UN member countries have recognized Palestine as an independent state. Among them, the latest recognized in the current year, i.e. 2024 - Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Barbados, Spain, Norway and Ireland.
