International Desk: China's Ambassador to the United Nations Zhang Jun feels that the world needs to be more active in resolving the situation of violence and civil war in Myanmar. He also greeted Noelin Heiser, the newly appointed UN envoy to Myanmar.

Speaking at a news conference after a closed-door meeting of the UN Security Council on Friday, Zhang Jun said, "The world must work hard to bring the country back from the current state of violence and civil war in Myanmar. That should be our primary goal in Myanmar. If the civil war situation does not end, there will be no solution to the ongoing crisis.

Greeting Noelin Heiser, the UN envoy to Myanmar, at the press conference, he said, "It will take some time for him to adjust to the current situation there and I think he should be given that much time." He is already trying to talk to Myanmar's warring factions and we hope he will be able to carry out his duties successfully. "

About a year ago, on February 1, 2021, Myanmar's military seized power by ousting pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Myanmar's army chief Min Aung Hlaing led the coup.

Aung San Suu Kyi was arrested the same day and taken to a prison in the capital, Nay Pyi Taw. Thousands of leaders and activists from various levels of the National League for Democracy, including Suu Kyi's political party, were arrested, including Myanmar's President Win Mint.

The pro-democracy people of Myanmar, however, have been protesting since the day after the uprising. Initially, sticks, rubber bullets and water cannons were used to quell the protests, but at one point the country's security forces began using lethal firearms at the behest of the junta.

At least 1,500 people have been killed so far in Myanmar by security forces, according to human rights groups.

Meanwhile, a number of regional armed political groups, including Karen, became active in Myanmar amid the protests of the people and the repression of the junta authorities. Various international media have reported that young anti-junta protesters are being given military training by setting up various training camps in the deep forests of the country.
