International Desk: US President Joe Biden said, if Hamas releases the hostages today, it is possible to implement a ceasefire in Gaza tomorrow.

He made these comments while going to an election fundraiser in Seattle on Saturday (May 11). Earlier on Friday, the US president avoided questions about the ceasefire in Gaza. Biden said Israel said the ceasefire depends on Hamas. If they want, a ceasefire is possible tomorrow.

We can end this conflict if the hostages are released. On October 7 last year, fighters of the Palestinian independence organization Hamas suddenly entered Israel and attacked. 1200 Israelis were killed in their attack. In addition, 252 people were taken hostage by Hamas. In response to the surprise attack, Israel launched a counter-attack in Gaza that night with the aim of eliminating Hamas, which is still ongoing.

Israel's attacks have killed more than 35,000 Palestinians in Gaza so far, most of them women and children. Moreover, about 78 thousand 700 Palestinians were injured in this conflict. Hamas released 105 hostages during a week-long ceasefire in late November last year.

Four others were released before that. Israel believes Hamas still holds 128 hostages. Some of them died. According to the report of The Times of Israel, three hostages were rescued alive and the bodies of 12 hostages were recovered by Israeli soldiers.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that three of the hostages who died were "accidentally" killed in a military operation. The IDF told The Times of Israel, citing new intelligence and information from troops sent to Gaza, that 36 hostages have died so far. And one more is listed as missing since October. What the rest of the hostages have on their foreheads is still unknown.
