News Desk: There will be no admission test for Class XI admission this year either. Students will be admitted based on their examination results. Applications will open on September 15, while the admission process will be completed by November 10. Classes for Class XI are scheduled to begin on November 12.

Applications will be accepted centrally through an online system, and admissions will be conducted based on students’ merit and order of preference.

Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman told Jugantor that, according to the draft schedule, applications are scheduled to open on September 15. The proposed schedule will be sent to the Ministry of Education on Thursday. If approved, the admission process will begin accordingly.

Across the country, there are approximately 2.5 million seats available for Class XI admission in colleges and madrasas. Last year, only 58.7% of the total seats were filled, leaving 41.3% vacant. As the pass rate has declined further this year, an even larger number of seats are expected to remain vacant.

However, despite the availability of vacant seats overall, many students who achieved GPA-5 may still be unable to secure admission to their preferred institutions because comparatively fewer seats are available in well-reputed colleges. This year, more than 116,000 students achieved GPA-5 across the 11 education boards. Of them, 106,009 students received GPA-5 under the nine general education boards.

For the past several years, students have been admitted to Class XI based on the results of the SSC and equivalent examinations. This system applies to admissions to colleges and madrasas. In contrast, institutions under the Technical Education Board follow a separate admission process. Except for a few institutions, including Notre Dame College in Dhaka, almost all colleges and madrasas across the country admit students to Class XI through this centralized system.

With technical assistance from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), the Dhaka Education Board centrally manages the online admission process.
