Iran has destroyed a US military radar system in Kuwait

​News Desk: Iran's state media, Press TV, reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian military launched a coordinated missile and drone strike targeting U.S. military infrastructure located in Kuwait.

​The primary target of this operation was Kuwait's Ali Al Salem Air Base. Tehran claims that a C-RAM (Counter-Rocket, Artillery, and Mortar) early warning radar system deployed by the U.S. military there was successfully destroyed.

​It is reported that, in addition to destroying the radar system, drone strikes also hit the air base's Patriot air defense systems, drone hangars, and fuel storage facilities. At the same time, Iran stated that U.S. military support centers located in Camp Arifjan in Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain were also targeted.

​Tehran has termed this military action as their right to self-defense. They claimed that this 'Operation Saeqeh' or 'Nasr-2' was conducted in response to intense airstrikes carried out by U.S. forces against Iranian command centers near Iran's southern region and Bandar Abbas.

​Following the attack, the IRGC issued a stern warning to Kuwait and other Persian Gulf nations that currently host U.S. troops. Tehran alleged that Washington is using Kuwait's airspace and territory to launch aggressive attacks against Iran. Under these circumstances, they also called upon the general public of Kuwait to speak out against the U.S. military presence.

​Meanwhile, the attack has caused significant damage and disruption in Kuwait. Kuwaiti authorities stated that the country's airspace was temporarily closed due to the unfolding situation. Apart from the military installations, a missile struck a vital water treatment plant, causing a massive fire and injuring several workers.

​Publishing satellite imagery to support their claims, Iranian state media asserted that there is evidence of the destruction of U.S. drone hangars and radar infrastructure. However, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has not yet officially confirmed the complete destruction of the radar system.

​U.S. officials have, however, acknowledged that several U.S. service members stationed in the region were injured in the ongoing retaliatory strikes centered around the strategic control of the Strait of Hormuz.
