News Desk: Minister for Education and Primary and Mass Education, Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan, has announced plans to recruit more than 100,000 new teachers. He stated that there are plans to appoint 32,500 headmasters in government primary schools and around 70,000 teachers and lecturers across various private MPO-affiliated (Monthly Pay Order) educational institutions.

He shared this on Thursday (July 2) during his speech at an event titled "Global Partnership for Education System Transformation Grant and Multiplier Grant for Bangladesh," organized by UNESCO at the Hotel InterContinental in the capital.

Ehsanul Hoque Milan said, "I have another piece of good news. The Appellate Division has delivered its verdict regarding the appointment of 32,500 primary school headmasters. The division has accepted our appeal, and we can now proceed with appointing 32,500 headmasters."

He added, "Along with this, nearly 70,000 more individuals (MPO-affiliated teachers and lecturers) can be included. This is major news for us."

The Education Minister further noted, "Our HSC exams started this morning. We were supposed to inspect the exam centers, but perhaps our colleagues feel there is no need for us to go there. That is why we are all sitting in this room. This did not happen before. A very significant change has taken place."

The Prime Minister's Advisor on Education and Primary and Mass Education, Mahdee Amin, and State Minister for Primary and Mass Education, Bobby Hajjaj, were present at the event, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, and UNESCO.

The Education Minister also informed that under the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), UNESCO and UNICEF have approved approximately $99 million USD in funding for Bangladesh's education sector this year.
