News Desk: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on July 10, Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain announced.
He shared this information during his speech as the chief guest at a ceremony held on Thursday (July 2) to hand over advanced microscopes and various laboratory equipment to the Pathology Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The Health Minister said, "Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit Dhaka Medical College Hospital on July 10. Dr. Zubaida Rahman will also accompany him."
He expressed hope that the Prime Minister's visit would inject new momentum into improving the overall quality of healthcare services at Dhaka Medical. The Minister remarked, "I hope the entire picture of Dhaka Medical will change."
Regarding the dengue situation, the Health Minister stated that coordinated efforts are being carried out down to the upazila level, and tackling dengue is possible with everyone's cooperation. He noted that the prevalence and severity of dengue might rise during the months of July and August. However, the Ministry of Health and the Directorate General of Health Services have taken adequate preparations to tackle any potential situation.
He informed that NS1 antigen test kits for dengue detection have been dispatched to the thana, upazila, and district levels. Furthermore, hospitals in Dhaka and other major cities across the country have been kept ready. If the number of patients increases, the capacity of these hospitals will be expanded further as needed, and medical treatment will be strengthened.
The Health Minister added that integrated activities, starting from the union level, are being conducted to prevent dengue. To keep the environment clean, people from all walks of life, including mosque imams, have been urged to get involved.
He also mentioned that the country has an adequate stock and supply of all types of vaccines, reagents, and saline. If necessary, medical services will be ensured by launching mobile hospitals if patient numbers spike.
It was mentioned at the event that an advanced microscope has been provided to the Pathology Department of Dhaka Medical to make cancer diagnosis more precise and modern. This will make cancer detection easier and more accurate.
