Dhaka, June 21 (CNI): Public Administration Minister Md. Abdul Bari has stated that the government has no plan to increase the marks of the BCS viva voce examination back to 200. He said the current system of 100 marks will remain in place to ensure a more transparent, dynamic, and corruption-free selection process.
The minister made the remarks on Sunday in response to a question from Noakhali-6 lawmaker Abdul Hannan Masud during the budget session of the 13th National Parliament.
He informed Parliament that the viva voce marks for the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination were reduced from 200 to 100 through a special gazette notification issued on December 11, 2024. The revised system has already been implemented in the ongoing 47th BCS examination.
He further said that the 48th and 49th BCS examinations, which are considered special BCS batches, were also conducted under the 100-mark viva system.
According to him, the change was introduced following the revised rules issued in May 2025. The 100-mark viva system will continue for the 50th BCS and all future BCS examinations.
The minister expressed hope that this decision would make the BCS recruitment process more transparent, efficient, and equitable.
