Five Bangladeshis from Kanaighat Killed in Devastating Traffic Accident in Qatar

Doha, June 21 (CNI): Five Bangladeshi expatriate workers from Kanaighat Upazila in Sylhet district were killed in a devastating road accident in Qatar on Sunday (June 21).

According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Qatar and family sources of the victims, the five Bangladeshis were on their way to work early in the morning, as they did every day, when the vehicle carrying them suddenly lost control and crashed on a highway.

The exact cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed. Local traffic police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the vehicle losing control.

It has been confirmed that all five deceased expatriates were residents of different villages in Kanaighat Upazila of Sylhet. The sudden deaths of these migrant workers, who had gone abroad in search of a livelihood, have cast a shadow of grief over their families and communities. Mourning has spread throughout Kanaighat as relatives and loved ones struggle to come to terms with the tragic loss.

The Bangladesh Embassy has formally informed the victims' families in Bangladesh about the incident.

Upon receiving news of the accident, officials from the Bangladesh Embassy in Qatar rushed to the accident site and the morgue of a local hospital. They have been monitoring the situation closely and are providing the necessary legal assistance to the victims' families.

The embassy said that efforts are underway to complete all legal formalities and documentation required for the repatriation of the bodies to Bangladesh at the earliest possible time. It is maintaining constant communication with the Qatari authorities to facilitate the process.
