News Desk: Despite global economic instability caused by the US tariff war, export earnings of Bangladeshi products to the United States market have increased. At the same time, export earnings have also risen in the United Kingdom, the second-largest single-country export destination. However, exports to Germany, the third-largest export market, have continuously declined.
Since the declaration of the tariff war by Donald Trump on 2 April last year, the global economic landscape has begun to change. Due to tariff concerns, import and export activities largely slowed down. When the tariff policy came into effect in August, it impacted markets including the United States. To cope with rising prices and inflationary pressure, consumers began reducing their spending.
Amid this situation, Bangladesh’s export earnings to the US market have increased. According to data from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), goods worth 73.619 billion US dollars were exported to the United States from July to April of the 2025–26 fiscal year. In the same period of the 2024–25 fiscal year, the figure was 71.867 billion dollars. This means export earnings to the United States increased by around 2.5 percent compared to the previous fiscal year.
On the other hand, export earnings to the United Kingdom, the second-largest market, increased by about 23.5 percent on a monthly basis. In the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, goods worth 38.751 billion dollars were exported to the country.
However, no such growth was observed in Germany, the third-largest export market. In the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, export earnings from Germany stood at 38.618 billion dollars. In the same period of the previous fiscal year, the figure was 43.649 billion dollars. This means exports to Germany declined by more than 11.5 percent year-on-year.
