News Desk: In the first six days of the current month (May), the country received remittances amounting to 752 million US dollars. In Bangladeshi currency, this amounts to Tk 9,230 crore and 80 lakh (calculated at an exchange rate of Tk 122.75 per dollar). On average, the country received 125.3 million dollars in remittances per day during this period.
The information was provided on Thursday (7 May) by Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan.
He said that during the first six days of May this year, the country received 752 million dollars in remittances, compared to 625 million dollars during the same period last year. This indicates that remittance inflow has increased year-on-year.
From July of the current fiscal year until 6 May, the country received a total of 30.085 billion US dollars in remittances, marking a 19.60 percent increase compared to the same period a year earlier.
Earlier, in April, the country received 3.1273 billion US dollars in remittances. In March, remittance inflow stood at 3.75505 billion US dollars, the highest ever recorded in a single month in the country’s history.
