U.S. Delivers $2.4 Million in Health Equipment to Strengthen Bangladesh’s Healthcare System

Diplomatic Correspondent: The United States has provided $2.4 million worth of health equipment and medical supplies to Bangladesh’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as part of efforts to strengthen maternal, newborn and child healthcare services across the country.

The equipment was formally presented at Panchagarh District Hospital, where U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen handed over maternal and newborn care training equipment to Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, the broader U.S. contribution includes newborn warmers, breathing equipment, therapeutic food for severely malnourished children and essential supplies to maintain vaccine effectiveness.

The support is being delivered to hospitals and health centres nationwide, including facilities in hard-to-reach areas, through U.S.-funded partners FHI 360, Jhpiego, JSI and UNICEF.

The initiative is part of the United States’ America First Global Health Strategy, which focuses on strengthening health systems through practical partnerships and promoting American health innovation.

The United States said it remains committed to working with the Government of Bangladesh to expand access to quality healthcare services across the country, particularly for mothers, newborns and children.
