Bidisha Ershad Arrested

News Desk: Police have arrested Bidisha Ershad, the second wife of former President and founder chairman of the Jatiya Party, the late Hussain Muhammad Ershad.

She was arrested from her residence in Gulshan, Dhaka, at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday (August 25).

She was reportedly arrested in connection with a fraud case, Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Daud Hossain confirmed.

Earlier in May, a court sentenced Bidisha to two years in prison in the fraud case and issued an arrest warrant against her.

In addition to the prison sentence, Bidisha Siddique was fined Tk 10,000. In default of payment, she will have to serve an additional one month of simple imprisonment.

According to the case documents, businessman Mosharraf Hossain Sikder filed the case with Gulshan Police Station in 2008, accusing Bidisha of fraud over the alleged sale of an apartment at President Park in Baridhara, Dhaka. Police confirmed that she was arrested in connection with the case last night.
