News Desk: The government is planning to launch a ‘National E-Health Platform’ to bring the country’s healthcare system under an integrated digital framework. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed that the platform’s operations initially be launched through a pilot project in several districts.

He gave the instruction on Saturday (August 22) at a meeting on an integrated information technology system in the health sector held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman chaired the meeting.

The meeting discussed in detail the possible structure of the National E-Health Platform, its operational procedures, and its use in healthcare. It was decided that the platform’s effectiveness, potential problems, costs, and feasibility would initially be assessed through a pilot project in several districts.

Following a review of the experience and outcomes of the pilot project, the government plans to gradually expand its scope across the country.

Emphasizing the effective use of information technology in healthcare, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, “This integrated system must be developed in such a way that ordinary people can easily benefit from it and the process of receiving medical services becomes easier.”

He placed particular emphasis on securely storing patients’ necessary health information and ensuring that it can be easily accessed by relevant doctors and healthcare institutions when necessary.

The Prime Minister said, “Data security and personal privacy must be ensured when developing the platform.”
