At least 80 dead as boat capsizes in Congo's Kwa River

International Desk: More than 80 people have lost their lives in a boat accident in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The accident happened on Wednesday in the Kwa River, about 70 kilometers (43 miles) from the town of Mushi in Mai-Ndombe province. Al Jazeera news.

A post from the country's president's office was given on social media calling for an investigation into the real reasons behind these incidents so that such disasters do not happen again in the future. 

Besides, Congolese President Felix ordered the local authorities to take all necessary measures and assist the victims and expressed his condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. The accident happened during the night journey. It is believed that the accident happened because nothing could be seen in the dark. 

There are few paved roads through the vast jungles of the Congo. Most of the people there travel by river. Therefore, the incident of boat sinking has become common in the Central African country. There are accidents from time to time due to small boats and ships carrying passengers beyond their capacity.
