The Government wants Friendship with Foreigners but Not Sovereignty: Kader

Online Desk: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, Awami League government wants friendship with foreigners. But if someone wants to dominate, it will not be accepted.

He said these things at a press conference organized at the political office of the Awami League president in Dhanmondi on Tuesday (February 27). Obaidul Quader said, we want friendship with foreign friends. And we do not accept those who want to come in the role of Lord instead of friend.

The minister said that the delegation of the United States has talked about advancing relations with Bangladesh in its latest visit. The last thing they said, BNP has nothing to be optimistic about. Government collapse, failure, action against the government - they got nothing. That is why they have adopted the strategy of keeping quiet.

Obaidul Quader said, hearing the broken record of lies of BNP leaders has made ears ring. Now their voices are a little less loud. The poison in the mouth has become more fierce. Failure in their movement, failure in not coming to elections - these made them careless and reckless. They are imposing a negative mindset on the government, which we don't see in reality.

The Awami League General Secretary said, I don't want to talk about the smell of conspiracy. BNP has no response now. Because, they said there will be no election. If there is an election, it will not last even five days. They did not get what they wanted from the United States. They wanted to hear that there would be a ban on the government. They went to the meeting with the US delegation with the dream that the visa policy would be imposed. But they have spoken their word. The US delegation expressed its commitment to advance relations with Bangladesh on that country's behalf.

Obaidul Quader said in response to a question that the people may go against the government due to the increase in commodity prices, the people of our country have proved it. So many provocations, so many agitations, the people were neither enticed nor persuaded by the gatherings of the picnic parties. The people of the country keep the news of the whole world. All the news from around the world is researched in village tea shops. People understand that the government is not at fault here. Cost of goods is not the only problem of Bangladesh. The prices of goods are increasing all over the world. Name one country in the world where commodity prices are normal. But our people still have the purchasing power. We hope that the supplies will be sufficient for next Ramadan as well.

Referring to the complaint of increasing the price of beef due to extortion, the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges said that there is definitely an issue of extortion. The Prime Minister himself has given a strong statement against this extortion. All concerned have been instructed to take action in this regard.

Obaidul Quader said in response to journalists' questions about foreign debt repayment, Bangladesh has no record of defaulting on its debt, and it will not happen this time either. However, the debt may increase.
