News desk: Senior joint secretary general of the party Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that extortion is being done in the name of BNP leaders at home and abroad by making deepfake videos.

He said, recently some pro-government online platforms and media are extorting the speech given by BNP Acting Chairman Tarek Rahman in Zoom meeting by making deepfake videos using artificial intelligence (AI) to well-wishers in the country and abroad. The extortion video is being circulated again. He said these things in a press conference at Nayapaltan BNP central office on Sunday (March 16).

Rizvi said that BNP's information technology department's investigation has found evidence that a fraudster and a jailed criminal named 'Nahid Rain' is leading this campaign to humiliate the opposition on behalf of Awami League. It is very sad but true that this dastardly criminal is being openly promoted online and offline by an influential person in a foreign country.

He also said that not only BNP Acting Chairman, but several members including Standing Committee member Babu Gayeshwar Chandra Roy have also been made similar deepfake videos. I would like to inform all the people of the country and abroad including the leaders, workers and supporters of BNP at all levels - you should be careful of these deepfake videos.

Stating that no leader of BNP would ever ask for money from anyone through video calls, the former student leader said, if someone asks for money from you through video calls, then immediately inform the party leaders. So that action can be taken against it.
