Pabna Correspondent: Police have arrested 6 members of organized gang of robbers during robbery by blocking a car on the road in Bhangura, Pabna. During this time, some sharp weapons and tools were seized from them. They were arrested during a robbery in Bheramara area of Bhangura upazila on Tebunia-Baghabari road in the early hours of Monday (November 20).
The arrested are Hashem Ali, Rashedul Islam, Liton Ahmed, Alam Hossain and Babu Sarkar of Baghabari Paschimpara village of Shahjadpur police station of Sirajganj and Monirul Islam of Silanda village of Sathiya upazila of Pabna. According to the police, banana trader Chandan Kumar Das of Aigbari Shaktipur village of Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj was going to Meherpur with a pickup vehicle.
The gang members followed him in two CNG-powered auto-rickshaws. On reaching Bheramara market in Bhangura upazila, two CNG pickups blocked the way. Within moments they hit the driver and threw him out of the car. The robbers took control of the car and took away the businessman's money bag. He was then thrown out of the pickup.
While fleeing with the pickup, the patrolling police caught them red-handed. At that time, the police seized some sharp weapons and a big rope from them. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhangura police station Rashidul Islam said that a robbery case has been registered in the police station. The accused were sent to jail by the court on Monday afternoon.
