Four businesses in Kaliganj were fined more than half a million

Gazipur:  Four businesses of four local businesses have been fined Tk 54,000 in four cases under the Essential Commodities Control Act and Consumer Rights Protection Act in Kaliganj, Gazipur. Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Umme Hafcha Nadia imposed this fine in the raid of mobile court in Kaliganj market on Monday (November 13) afternoon.    

The convicted businessmen are Ajmal Huda Mithu of Kaliganj Bazar, Md. Solaiman, Md. Swapan Mia and Ratan Chandra Saha. Among the four traders, Mithu was fined Tk 1,000 and Solaiman Tk 2,000 each under Section 06 of the Essential Commodities Control Act, 1956. Also, Swapan was fined Tk 1,000 and Ratan Tk 50,000 under Sections 38, 51, 53 of Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009.

Mobile court judge Umme Hafcha Nadia said, in four cases, fines of Tk 54,000 have been imposed on four businesses of four businesses in Kaliganj market. He also said that this kind of operation for public interest will continue.

At that time, Mahbubul Islam, police and Ansar members of the bench assistant were present.
