Two police officers were killed in a shooting at a college in the US state of Virginia on Tuesday. On the same day, a student was killed and another was injured in a school shooting in Minnesota. News AFP.

In a tweet, Virginia Police said the suspected assailant shot two security officers at a college and fled the scene.

A 26-year-old man named Alexander Watch Campbell has been arrested in connection with the incident, Virginia police said.

The man was arrested with injuries. However, it is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. He has already been charged with murder.

The town of Bridgewater is located just two and a half hours from the capital, Washington. Bridgewater College is located where the shootings took place.

Casey Truslow, a 21-year-old student, told the Washington Post that he heard gunshots outside the classroom building. When the second shot was fired, they all lay down on the floor. They were like that for about an hour. The two police officers killed were identified as John Painter and J. J. Jefferson has been reported.

Another student was killed and another was injured in what became known as Richfield, Minnesota, officials said.

Two suspects have been arrested since the incident. Friends of the slain student have identified his body. They said the student's name was Jamari Rice. Local reporters say he is the son of Cortez Rice, an activist in the Black Lives Matter movement.
