DU hall is open, classes will run online

News Desk: The government has imposed two new restrictions to combat the new outbreak of coronavirus. The school-college has been declared closed till February 8. Following the national decision, Dhaka University (DU) will also remain closed till the same time. However, all the residential halls of DU will be open at this time.

Classes will be conducted online at the institution to resolve session congestion, and administrative offices will be open to a limited extent. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr confirmed the information to Jago News on Friday (January 21) at noon. Md. Akhtaruzzaman. "Our students should be safe wherever they are and abide by the rules of hygiene," he said. Classes will run online. Offices will be kept open to a limited extent. This decision has been taken so that our students do not fall into health risks. "We are also following the national decision," he said. Dhaka University will also be closed till February 8 to deal with corona infection. Meanwhile, a press release sent from the public relations department of the university said that in the light of the notification issued by the cabinet on January 21, physical education activities at Dhaka University will be closed from January 21 to February 8.

However, the mutual cooperation of teachers and students related to online education activities will continue. The notification further said that the offices of Dhaka University will be open in a limited range from 9 am to 1 pm in compliance with the health rules. Emergency services (electricity, water, gas, internet, healthcare, sanitation, etc.) will continue as usual. It said students were advised to stay in their respective residences following proper hygiene rules. Stakeholders were requested not to hold meetings, rallies and public gatherings on campus. A notification was issued by the Cabinet Division on the evening of January 10 to prevent corona infection. The government imposed 11-point restrictions across the country from January 13. On Friday (January 21), a new notification was issued by the Cabinet Division with 7-point instructions. When the corona infection started in the country, in March 2020, the DU authorities closed the class activities and residential halls. After a long 18-month shutdown due to the Corona epidemic, all DU residential halls were reopened to students on October 5 last year. In the first step, only the final year undergraduate and postgraduate students get the opportunity to get up on priority basis by showing their identity card and vaccination card. Students of other years also started getting up in the residential hall of DU from last 10th October. On March 6, 2020, a patient with corona was identified in the country. The first news of death came on 18 March in Corona. Although infections and deaths declined slightly later that year, the Delta variant has been on the rise since April 2021. However, at the beginning of 2022, the Omicron variant started crying again. Infections and deaths increase rapidly.

According to the Department of Health, four people died and 10,008 were infected in a single day in Corona in the country on Thursday. Since the onset of the epidemic, the total number of deaths in Corona in the country has been 26,160 and the total number of people affected has been 16,053,172.
