News desk: State's plea against High Court's order suspending separate notification of opening of primary and secondary schools during the holy month of Ramzan has come up for hearing. On Tuesday (March 12), the appeal bench led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan is in the order number 2113 of the supplementary agenda.
The hearing has been fixed at 11:30 am today. Earlier, after the preliminary hearing of a writ in this regard made by a guardian, on Sunday (March 10), the High Court bench of Justice KM Kamrul Quader and Justice Khizir Hayat issued a stay order along with the bench rule. Senior lawyer AKM Faiz and lawyer Mahmuda Khanam heard on behalf of the court writ. On that day, senior lawyer AKM Faiz said that the High Court has suspended the government's decision to keep primary schools open for 10 days and high schools for 15 days during Ramadan for two months. At the same time, the High Court also issued a rule. The state applied to the Appellate Division on Monday seeking suspension of this order. Chamber Justice M Inayetur Rahim fixed the application of the state party against the order of the High Court on Monday (March 11) for hearing in the full bench of the Appellate Division on Tuesday. Accordingly, the application was listed before the Full Bench.
Attorney General AM Amin Uddin appeared for the state in the court. Assistant Attorney General Mohammad Saiful Alam was with him. Senior Advocate AKM Faiz appeared for the petitioner. Earlier, on February 08, a circular from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said that the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has decided to continue regular teaching activities in government primary schools for the first 10 days of the upcoming Holy Ramadan after partially revising the list of holidays and curriculum for the 2024 academic year in order to meet the learning deficit of students. Fasting will start from March 12 subject to sighting of the moon.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Education has decided to continue the class activities of public and private secondary and lower secondary schools for a total of 15 days from March 11 to March 25. According to the Ministry of Education, the list of public and private secondary and lower secondary schools for the academic year of 2024 (1430-1431 Bengal AD) and the list of academic year has been partially revised.
