Whether any militant group active in BUET will be investigated: Education Minister

News Desk:  Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury has said that if any militant group secretly conducts activities in Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET), it will be investigated.

He made this comment in response to questions from journalists after the program organized at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Saturday (March 30) afternoon. 

Referring to BUET, the Education Minister said, 'Even a few days ago, many people complained that some militant groups are secretly conducting activities there. There was such a discussion. We will investigate it more deeply. 

He further said, 'If any individual has such a mentality and if it seems that the activities are taking place to indulge the fundamentalist and militant groups, it must be stopped and countered. That's why there are law and order forces, they are doing these investigations, counter terrorism unit will also work on the matter.

Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury said, 'I will call on both sides including the students regarding the ongoing movement, care must be taken to ensure that the education environment is not damaged there (BUET).

Earlier, at 12 noon, the minister participated as the chief guest in a discussion on 'Bangabandhu's Sonar Bangla - Sheikh Hasina's challenges and solutions for building a smart Bangladesh'. 

Discussion meeting organized by BCS General Education Association. Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Department of Ministry of Education Soleiman Khan and Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MAUSHI) Prof. Nehal Ahmed were special guests. The main speaker was Professor Dr. Ratan Siddiqui. 

President of BCS General Education Association presided over the event. Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury. General secretary of the organization Shaukat Hossain Molya was in charge.
