Two killed in Gulistan bus crash

News Desk: Two pedestrians were killed when a bus overturned at Gulistan in the capital. Another 12 people were injured in the same incident. The accident took place near the toll plaza of Mayor Hanif Flyover around 9:30 am on Saturday. The names of the dead were not immediately known.

According to the fire service, the rescue workers of the fire service headquarters went to the spot at 10:15 am after receiving the news of the accident. Two bodies were recovered there. Several passengers of the bus were injured. The bodies have been handed over to two policemen. The injured have been sent to hospital.

It is learned that the two killed were men. One of them is about 22 years old and the other is 30 years old. However, their names have not been identified yet.

Meanwhile, Wari Police Station SI Rajib Chandra Sarkar told the media after a preliminary investigation that the incident took place when the bus braked and lost control while alighting from the flyover. 10 to 12 people were injured. The bus is being taken to the police station. The bus driver-helper escaped.

DMCH police outpost inspector in charge. Bachchu Mia said, “At least 10 to 12 passengers were injured. 6 of them are undergoing treatment at DMCH. The injured were identified as Elias (40), Sujit (45), Al Amin (25), Omar Sharif (45), Delwar Hossain (48) and Rihad (26). Elias was seriously injured. "
