News Desk: A fire broke out in the capital's Kaptan Bazar Kasaipatti. The fire broke out at 5:15 am on Saturday. The fire was brought under control after an hour-long effort by 12 units of the fire service.
Dewan Azad, duty officer of the control room of the fire service and civil defense, said that the body of a man was recovered while dumping at the spot around 8:30 am. However, the identity of the deceased was not known.
He added that the fire was under control but there was heavy smoke. The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Once the operation is over, the damage will be known.
Traders said the fire broke out around 5.45 am on Saturday. Many shops in the wholesale market were burnt down. Upon receiving the news, 12 units of fire service joined to put out the fire. Police, RAB, WASA, Electricity and Titas Gas officials came to the spot. After trying for about an hour and a half, the fire was brought under control and hundreds of shops were burnt down.
