News Desk: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that the government has kept Tarique Rahman in exile.

Obaidul Quader made the remarks at a briefing at his residence on Thursday (September 23rd).

The general secretary of the Awami League said that whenever the country moves forward, a reactionary faction led by the BNP wants to stop the pace of progress of the country. They want to destabilize the country and destroy the resources of the people in the name of the movement.

Obaidul Quader said, "It is important to ensure political stability and development-friendly environment for all of us at this time."

The government is completely destroying the hopes and aspirations of the people, in response to such allegations by the BNP leaders, the general secretary of the Awami League said, in fact the BNPE did not pay any attention to the hopes and aspirations of the people.

Obaidul Quader said Bangladesh is moving forward at an indomitable pace in every socio-economic index.

Noting that the government did not imprison Begum Zia illegally, but suspended her sentence and gave her the opportunity to receive treatment from home, he said, "In fact, the BNP has no sense of gratitude. If they had, they would have been grateful for Sheikh Hasina's generosity."

BNP leaders have said that the government has kept Tarique Rahman in exile. Obaidul Quader considers their statement as one of many lies.

The general secretary of the Awami League wants to know who fled the country in the name of medical treatment on bond. He (Tareq) himself fled the country on the condition that the caretaker government would not be politicized. Addressing the BNP leaders, Obaidul Quader said, "If you have the courage, bring him back to the country."

Mentioning that Tareq Rahman has to do politics on the soil of the country, Quader said, the politics of the country does not have to be called from across the river Thames, the people of the country will not respond to it.

Regarding Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder's statement that there was no competition in the election, the bridge minister said, "BNP also needs to participate in the election to compete, but Mahbub Talukder could not bring BNP in the election."

Referring to Mahbub Talukder's statement motivated by political motives, Obaidul Quader said, "Otherwise, how can Mahbub Talukder make such a statement from a responsible position?"

He further said that Mahbub Talukder spoke about the disinterest of the voters in the elections, even though the voter turnout in the recently concluded local government elections was about 69 percent.
